Welcome to my portfolio!
I am an English teacher who is enthusiastic about promoting literacy, research skills, and developing engaging, student-centered lessons. Collaboration with teachers and with students in order to support both is something I believe is crucial to providing the best educational experiences for students. In my lessons, I like to incorporate activities that ignite curiousity and questions so that students must take ownership in their learning.
I am a lifelong learner with an undergraduate degree in English, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Instructional Technology with Library Information Sciences. At my school, I serve on the Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Committee with a team dedicated to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and I also serve on the OEHS SEL Committee.
Recently, I began a practicum in the Oswego East High School's LRC and have had experience with circulation and resource management, distribution and collection of textbooks and 1:1 devices, creating LibGuides, and promoting books specific to student clubs.
Due to my interest in promoting SEL opportunites for students and my love for literature, I established a partnership with Student Services to plan bibliotherapy, including group book therapy and SEL activities within the LRC. I was invited to present my ideas to all counselors, social workers, and psychologists in my building to explain bibliotherapy, the LibGuide I am developing, and how the LRC can support the work of Student Services as more students transition back into the building next school year.
